JLBJH Concerts in 2009!

9th October, 2008

It is with great pleasure that we announce the first American concert by any members of the original Barclay James Harvest line-up since 1976. On the 3rd May 2009 John Lees' Barclay James Harvest will headline the last day of the annual Rite of Spring Festival, held at the Keswick Theater, Glenside, Philadelphia. Aside from John Lees and Woolly Wolstenholme, the line up will include Craig Fletcher on bass and vocals, Kevin Whitehead on drums and guest J.J. Lees on Cornet. A guest keyboard player will be announced in the next four weeks. In addition, the possibility of playing further American concerts is being investigated. Meanwhile, don't forget to check out the ROSfest website!

We are also delighted to announce an exclusive one-off concert by JLBJH at The Lowry Centre at Salford Quays in Manchester on Easter Sunday, the 12th April, 2009. This concert will be the only scheduled British appearance at this time by the band and is being staged as a thanks to fans for their continuing loyalty to the group and to serve as a warm up for May's activity overseas. Tickets for this unique event will be available ONLY from this web site or by post from the International BJH Fan Club. The price of every ticket will include a free concert programme in the form of a specially produced new edition of the fan-club magazine, Nova Lepidoptera. More details about how to order tickets will be released soon through this web site and in our e-mail news bulletins - if you haven't already, sign up now!

Finally, EMI Records intend to release a new deluxe edition of Once Again around this time which will include previously unreleased alternative versions of tracks from the original album, along with a bonus DVD disc which features a 5.1 surround mix of the album recently done by Peter Mew at Abbey Road Studios. More details of the final content of the package will appear in the coming weeks.

Mandalaband III Progress Report

29th June, 2008

David Rohl has added lots of new tracks to the Mandalaband MySpace page now. None of them is finished yet - there are still a lot of lead vocals to do, plus all of Ashley Mulford's guitars, Kim Turner's percussion and Geoffrey Richardson's violas and sax solos. Amongst the pieces to be heard is a rough mix of a new piece by Woolly entitled "Nimrod".

The plan is to release not one but two new concept albums - the first is to be called BC – Ancestors and will cover "the heroic age of our ancient ancestral history (leading up to the birth of Christ)". The second album will be entitled AD – Sangreal and concerns itself with "the Romano-Spanish legends surrounding the Holy Grail (minus King Arthur)".

The site also promises a live video stream of the show.

[Stop press, 8th March: highlights from the show now on the Videoclips page.]

Mandalaband Update from Woolly

26th February, 2008

The multi-talented genius that is Geoffrey Richardson is now, after 5 and a half notes on 'Nimrod', a fully paid-up member of the Mandalaband 3 musical entity. Indeed so much so that he is likely to be swanning off down to Casa Rohl and performing on viola/violin/flute on a few tracks. (Unfortunately not the electric spoons.)

...and they call this a 'job'!

Last Call for Valhalla!

1st February, 2008

The free download of Woolly's "Valhalla" will only be available for one more week - after Friday, 8th February it will be replaced by excerpts from the Legacy CD. For now, you can still download it from the JLBJH MySpace page at:
